Inspiring Body Transformation – John Alvarez

Receiving stories about transformations inspired by our documentary “I Want to Look Like That Guy” never gets old!   John Alvarez is the latest in a growing group of people who have applied the “I Want to Look Like That Guy” SYSTEM and achieved amazing transformations and changed their lives.

Thank you John for sharing your story with us.  You are a great example of what can be achieved with consistent EXECUTION of the plan.  Keep it up!

Back in June of 2010 I had just gotten out of an unhealthy relationship and I was feeling a little depressed because I was 23 years old, 235lbs of pure fat and was in the worst shape of my life.  I had no girlfriend, people made fun of me all the time and I began to become insecure.

I wasn’t always out of shape.  In high school I was on the basketball team and I was always a thin guy. I never lifted weights, I never worked out.  All I did was play hoops but that was enough to keep me thin. Once I graduated and stopped playing hoops my metabolism dropped dramatically and I easily gained 85 lbs over the course of say 5 years or so. It was time to do something about that.

I went on YouTube and started searching for transformations people had done because I was ready to pick up a hobby to better myself physically. I needed to do something that would make me feel great about myself.  During my search I came across the “I Want to Look Like That Guy” trailer and I was amazed at Stuart’s transformation, mainly because Stuart and I had similar body types. We carried a lot of body fat! I always was under the impression that in order to look like Stuart or yourself, the person needed to have good genetics. I felt that I shouldn’t even bother with weights or healthy foods because I thought I’d be a fat lard no matter what.

After seeing the trailer for your documentary I got my hands on it and ever since I saw it I thought to myself, “Well if Stuart could do this amazing transformation naturally…why can’t I?” I gained confidence that the diet could get me ripped and shredded and the Max-OT principles would make me build enough muscle. The goal was to look like a fitness model/physique competitor.  So I started!

I read up on articles you have written.  I followed a strict diet and the Max-OT program. I followed a diet very similar to Stuart’s. In just about 2 years I went from 235lbs to 170lbs and lost weight very slowly to hold on to as much muscle possible. I worked extremely hard everyday in the gym.  I kept track of all the weight training and cardio. I sacrificed hanging out, having fun, and doing things young men love to do my age. My friends were upset with me for not hanging out anymore and not drinking. I lost some in the process, however I kept pushing forward. I believed I could achieve something amazing so I never cheated myself or broke my diet when I was losing fat. I became a very disciplined individual.  I began attending seminars and bodybuilding shows. I found a lifestyle I fell in love with and for me, this became my martial arts.

I was influenced by you and by Stuart. Now i am influencing all of my friends and people in my life who are truly amazed at how I transformed my physique. It all started with “I Want to Look Like That Guy.”

Thank you for changing my life. I will be competing in the fitness model competitions the end of 2013.

That’s my story.
